summer has arrived…

…and it’s my absolute favorite season of the year. I love waking up and forgetting what day it is because most days the kids and I have nothing we “have” to do. We are certainly enjoying some well deserved down time. We were at the beach last week and all the cousins got together for a quick photo shoot – or an attempt at one at least. The “babies” are 17 and 18 months old and to say they are quick is a huge understatement! We had to be equally as fast with treats and bribes but in the end it was all worth it since they earned ring pops – every one of them! Candy makes all kids happy, right?

I told my mother in law I wanted to get a shot of the babies naked in the sand. Of course they sat for about 1.4 seconds as you can see here -

I like this in a vintage wash, too. So sweet!

And summer isn’t summer without fresh cherries. I put some in one of my grandmother’s old mixing bowls, again in a vintage wash just because.

I noticed these ants a few weeks ago with an enormous treasure – a corner of a dorito. As they carried it away down my driveway, I ran inside to get my camera and nearly missed them. Apparently, they are quick, like toddlers!

Don’t you just love his hair? Mom says he’s getting a haircut soon and she wanted some pictures of his sweet, sweet curls.

I think this guy was the most cooperative toddler I’ve worked with. He made my job so easy.

As you can see with 3 kids, there’s a lot of love for this family! The lighting was perfect and I did a soft color processing on this shot.

I just love the kids’ faces here – so typical – Big sister, the princess, Baby girl is thinking, “whatcha talking bout Willis?”, while brother seems to want to ask, “whyyy are you putting my airplane in your pocket, Mrs Tasha?”.

Such a beautiful family. Thanks for the opportunity to take your family beach portraits!

“You smell like a French fry…

and I want to dip you ketchup and eat you up”. This was one of the many things my 3 year old niece said to me recently. She’s so wild(ly – entertaining) and we can’t quite figure it out since her parents are so… calm. She’s such a character, as you can see below.

The Dye family : Operation Love Reunited

I met with the Dye family yesterday to capture a few photos and memories with Dad before he deploys. I work for an organization called Operation Love Reunited and in doing so, I offer a complimentary session with all proofs and an album for Mom and Dad. It was cooold so our session was short and sweet since it included a brand new baby girl, who apears to be smiling in the picture below.

Are these girls gorgeous or what?

Thank you, Art, for your service and I thank you Megan for your sacrifice as a military wife and mother. You both are an inspiration to me and I truly appreciate you BOTH!

Look who turned one! It’s hard to believe sweet Piper has gone from this -

To this big one year old, in just 12 short months -

Of course, big sister, Libby, cannot be left out so I’ve included a few images of her as well. She, too, has grown so much since I started photographing them both last year. Libby is a huge fan of Dora so we had fun talking about the characters and of course calling Boots, Tico, and Benny.

I met with this family a few weeks ago for portraits at their home. With three boys, I was ready for anything but they were very easy to work with. I’m a Kindergarten teacher so I can handle most anything.

Little Gunnar LOVED showing off his belly button, which was just adorable of course (when you’re two)!

I have so many favorites… this was too sweet not to share.
